In September,2008, he undertook the Shenzhou VII flight task and was awarded the title “Hero Astronaut”after the mission. In June, 2012, he was carried by the Shenzhou IX spaceship for China's first manned space docking mission with the orbiting Tiangong I space lab module. In October and November ,2016, he successfully undertook the Tiangong II/Shenzhou XI manned spaceflight mission.
