Shenzhou-17 manned spaceship return module successfully landed Shenzhou-17 manned spaceflight mission achieved a complete success
2024-04-30

At 17:46 on April 30, 2024 (Beijing time), the return module of Shenzhou-17 manned spaceship successfully landed at the Dongfeng landing site, and the medical personnel at the site confirmed that astronauts Tang Hongbo, Tang Shengjie and Jiang Xinlin were in good conditions, marking the complete success of the Shenzhou-17 manned spaceflight mission.

At 16:56, the Beijing Aerospace Control Center issued a return command through the ground monitoring and control station, then the orbit module and the return module of the Shenzhou-17 manned spaceship separated successfully. Later, the return braking engine ignited, and the propulsion module separated from the return module, and the return module successfully landed. The search and rescue team for the recovery mission found the target and arrived at the landing site sooner. After the hatch of the return module was opened, the medical personnel confirmed that the astronauts were in good health.

The Shenzhou-17 manned spaceship was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on October 26, 2023, and docked with the Tianhe core module to form an assembly. The three astronauts spent 187 days in orbit, during which they conducted two extravehicular activities and assisted in completing multiple cargo extravehicular missions for the space station. They also carried out various tasks such as installation, debugging, maintenance and service of equipment inside and outside the module, completing China's first-ever extravehicular repair mission. Valuable data and experience for the long-term stable operation of the space station were accumulated during the process. At the same time, with the close cooperation of ground scientific researchers, they completed a large number of space scientific experiments (trials) in microgravity fundamental physics, space materials science, space life science, space medicine and space technology.
