Yang Liwei and Liu Boming attended 26rd Planetary Congress of Association of Space Explorers

【CMSP News July 8】The 26rd Planetary Congress of Association of Space Explorers took place in Cologne, Germany from July 1 to July 5. Chinese delegation headed by Deputy Director of China Manned Space Agency attended the Congress.

The theme of the Congress is “Citizens of Space-Stewards of Earth”. 86 astronauts from all over the world and their families attended the Congress.

During the Congress, one keynote presentation and four technical sessions were held to review in depth manned spaceflight missions and related scientific research test and discuss the future development trend of world manned space program, thus providing a platform for astronauts to share technology expertise. Besides, on the Community Day, astronauts were divided into teams to make trips to universities and research institutes in Bonn and Aachen to interact with students and science and technology workers. Chinese delegation took part in all the events organized by the Congress. Yang Liwei and Liu Boming gave speeches and exchanged opinions with astronauts present at the Congress.

During the Congress, Yang Liwei and Liu Boming also held talks with Mr Andy, Secretary General of Association of Space Explorers, discussing preparation issues of the 27rd Planetary Congress of Association of Space Explorers to be held in China. It was announced at the Congress that the 27rd Planetary Congress of Association of Space Explorers will be held in Beijing, China in the autumn of 2014.

Founded in 1985, the Association of Space Explorers is an international non-government organization aimed to provide a professional forum for all astronauts throughout the world who have ever undertaken manned space flight tasks. The Congress is held annually and this is the fifth time that Chinese astronauts have attended it. (By Staff Editor Yu Yanjuan)
