[BEIJING, May 10, CMSE News] From May 6 to May 7, China Manned Space Engineering Office held the “Studies on Development Strategy for Manned Spaceflight & Special Symposium for Manned Moon Landing” in Beijing. On the symposium, extensive and in-depth discussions were carried out over the selection of subsequent objectives under the three-step development strategy for China Manned Space Engineering as well as the necessity, feasibility and technical approach of launching the manned moon landing project in light of the actual development of China’s manned space engineering. In addition, main progresses in China’s manned space engineering and moon exploration engineering and follow-on arrangements, manned moon landing projects of other space faring countries, as well as concept studies and demonstration results of China’s manned moon landing project were also introduced on the symposium.
Experts attending the symposium believed that manned moon landing is an important and optional strategic objective after the implementation of the three-step strategy for China’s manned space engineering, and that to implement the manned moon landing project is consistent with China’s development interests, required by technical innovation and talent strategy, and of political and scientific significances.
It was concluded on the symposium that currently, China has already have the capability of carrying out comprehensive demonstrations for manned moon landing and relevant works should to be carried out immediately. Taking the complexity and difficulty of the manned moon landing project into consideration, it is advised to carry out in-depth demonstrations on the technical approach of manned moon landing, to compare various plans , and to launch pre-research and tackle the key technologies of high-propulsion rocket as soon as possible.
On the symposium, the purpose to solicit extensive opinions, draw on the wisdom of the masses and seek common understanding has been achieved. Thus, important reference will be provided for studies on the development strategy for China Manned Space Engineering.
