Figure: Three astronauts celebrating manual docking success
【BEIJING, June 23, CMSP News】At 10: 07, June 23 (Beijing local time), Shenzhou 10 spaceship, under the precise and accurate control of astronaut Nie Haisheng and with the collaboration of Zhang Xiaoguang and Wang Yaping, achieved successful manual docking with Tiangong I target spacecraft.
According to the procedure, at 8: 26, Shenzhou 10 spaceship was maneuvered to separate from Tiangong I and then Shenzhou 10 moved to a berthing point a certain distance away. After Beijing Aerospace Control Centre (BACC) confirmed the status of the two spacecrafts, Nie Haisheng operated the parallel moving and attitude adjusting hand lever to control the spaceship to approach slowly towards Tiangong I. During the process, astronauts Zhang Xiaoguang and Wang Yaping closely monitored the parameters on the spaceship’s instrument panel and the docking process. The three astronauts cooperated with each other closely during the whole process.
At 10: 00, the docking ring of Shenzhou 10 was engaged with that of Tiangong I. At 10: 07, the two spacecrafts formed a joint unit. According to the plan, the three astronauts will once again enter the Tiangong I module to carry out relevant science experiments. (Translated by Yu Yanjuan)
