2013-12-20 【December 19, CMSP News】 Zhou Jianping, Chief Designer of China Manned Space Program, was selected as academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), according to the announcement of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) on December 19, 2013.

Zhou Jianping, 56, male, Han Nationality, is the Chief Designer of China Manned Space Program. Working on the general design and technical management of China Manned Space Program for many years, he has overseen lots of critical work, such as manned space development strategic research and manned space station project implementation plan programming. Having solved a series of major technological problems involving human space-and-ground transportation, EVA, and docking and rendezvous, he has made outstanding contributions to the leaping development of China Manned Space technology. He has won national, provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological progress awards and published one book.
The 2013 nomination of academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) officially kicked off in January. After scientific and strict reviews based on the principle of fairness and justice, 51 prominent scientists were elected as academicians, bringing the total number of CAE academicians to 807. The average age of the newly elected academicians is 56.9, with the oldest 77 years old and the youngest 48 years old. (By Yu Yanjuan)
