LongMarch 2F Carrier Rocket Project was initiated and developed in 1992. On Nov. 20, 1999, the rocket completed its maiden flight successfully. By 2013, it has successfully fulfilled the tasks of launching five unmanned spaceships, five manned spaceships and one target spacecraft.
LongMarch 2F Carrier Rocket, based on LongMarch 2E Carrier Rocket, is designed for improving reliability and ensuring safety in accordance with the requirement of launching the manned spaceship. The rocket has a total length of 58.34m, with a take-off mass of 498 tons, a take-off thrust of 600 tons, and core stage with the diameter of 3.35m, straped with 4 boosters each with the diameter of 2.5m. The manned rocket fairing has a maximum diameter of 3.8m, and an option with a diameter of 4.2m for launching Tiangong target spacecraft, which can send over 8.1-ton Shenzhou spaceship or 8.6-ton Tiangong target spacecraft into low-earth orbit with a perigee of 200 kilometers and an apogee of 350 kilometers.
