Resume:
Senior colonel of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army and one of China’s first group of astronauts. He joined the army in August 1988 and worked as a flight team leader in an Aviation Corps of the PLA Air Force. He was appraised as a second-grade pilot of the PLA Air Force with 1,000 hours of safe flight time. In January 1988, he was officially appointed as China’s first group of astronauts. On June 2012, he was carried by the Shenzhou-9 spaceship for China's first manned space docking mission with the orbiting Tiangong-1 space lab module, and was awarded the title “hero astronaut”.
