She joined the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force in August, 1997 and worked as a deputy head in an Aviation Corps of the PLA Air Force. With 1,600 hours of safe flight, she was appraised as Second-grade Pilot. She was chosen as one of China’s second-generation astronauts in May, 2010. Now she is a fourth-grade astronaut of PLA Astronaut Corps and reaches the rank of Major. She was selected to carry out the Tiangong 1/Shenzhou 10 Manned Spaceflight mission in April, 2013.
